Introducing Expanded Contributor Roles in the SymphonicMS

Introducing Expanded Contributor Roles in the SymphonicMS

Need to make sure everyone who worked on your music actually gets credited correctly? You’re not alone.

Introducing Expanded Contributor Roles in the SymphonicMS. This new update gives you more control over how contributors are credited across your releases, so every role is properly documented and recognized. 🎼

We’ve added 861 new contributor roles across Writers, Performers, and Production & Engineering, making it easier to reflect exactly who did what on a track. As streaming platforms continue to expand how credits are displayed, having detailed, accurate metadata is becoming more important than ever.

Here’s everything you need to know…

Expanded Contributor Roles: More Control, More Accurate Credits

About Expanded Contributor Roles

Expanded Contributor Roles are now available inside the SymphonicMS! This update allows artists, labels, and teams to assign much more specific roles to everyone involved in a release, instead of relying on broad or limited credit categories.

That means you can now properly credit roles like mastering engineer, assistant engineer, mixing engineer, and many more, all within your existing workflow.

As platforms like Spotify and Apple continue to evolve how contributor data is used and displayed, this level of detail helps ensure your releases are structured correctly from the start.

Why This Matters

Credits have always been important, but they’re becoming even more visible.

With new developments like Spotify’s Song DNA and expanded credit displays across DSPs, contributor data is starting to play a bigger role in how music is explored and connected behind the scenes.

This update helps you stay ahead by making sure your metadata is complete, accurate, and aligned with where the industry is heading.

For example, with this update, you can:

  • Assign highly specific roles to reflect real contributions
  • Standardize credits across your catalog
  • Make sure collaborators receive proper recognition
  • Prepare your releases for evolving DSP features
  • Improve the overall structure and quality of your metadata

Streaming platforms are putting more emphasis on the people behind the music, not just the artist’s name on the release. By expanding contributor roles now, we want to make sure your catalog is ready for that shift.
