If you had a 2 Loud 2 Old Music Mug, I’d tell you to sit back, fill it up with whatever you like and prepare yourself for what is to come. This was an interesting month and some incredible finds…for cheap!! And I mean cheap!! But before we get to the cheap stuff, let’s discuss what first showed up on our doorstep for May…well, it was actually April but it was the day I posted the April Purchases wrap-up so it missed that post. That is the boxset for the Whitesnake album ‘Good To Be Bad”…titled “Still…Good To Be Bad”. Another impressive boxset…or is it?…review to come.
And there was an album that came out months ago on CD and digital, but the album just showed up in May. It is for the lead singer of one of my favorite bands Needtobreathe. It is Bear Rinehart’s second solo album under the name Wilder Woods. It is different then NTB which it should be since he is the voice of NTB. If it sounded like NTB, it would be a NTB album…

Now, let’s get to the cheap stuff…the record label MNRK had a big CD sale where all the CDs were only $5 each. These a new, still sealed so I went on a shopping spree. I limited myself to 11 CDs and helped fill up the Ace Frehley CD collection (the vinyl is already filled) and even got the bulk of Pop Evil’s collection. And then threw in Texas Hippie Coalition and Chickenfoot. Here you go…MNRK even threw in a Metal Sampler that I haven’t listened to yet, but will break it open soon enough.

But that really wasn’t the cheapest stuff. My daughter wanted to hit some thrift stores and so we went to a couple. The first one had a handful of CDs that were $0.99 each so I grabbed a few and these aren’t my normal listening genres, but I figured what the hell as I don’t usually find stuff I’m interested in a thrift stores…I picked up 6 for basically $6.

We then drove a few miles across state lines to another thrift store…and JACKPOT!!! I picked up 23 CDs in total for $23…and what a collection of albums. I have never hit a motherload like this before at a thrift store…and I left a ton of great ones there that I already had. It was insane.

Okay, but that wasn’t the end of cheap stuff…that was the cheapest stuff though. This next batch came from Hardy Boy Records in Mint Hill, NC. I went in to get this alternate cover of Billy Idol’s debut album. The one that makes him look like a girl and the record company when…”WAIT A MINUTE”…and pulled it and threw on a black leather jacket for the rest of the albums. It was in rough shape, but for $6.50 it was mine. While there I found a Tour Book from 1967 from The Monkees and a great ZZ Top 7″ Single.

But that wasn’t all…I found a few CDs for $2 each…

And then some Cassettes for $2 each as well…

And then on a trip to an antique mall with my daughter, I actually found a couple 8-Tracks…that is right…8-Tracks. Believe it or not, they were $2 each as well…

Wow, I’m tired already writing this up. Okay, let’s get back to the normal priced stuff, sadly. I picked up a few new releases on CD including Ghost, Winger and a Re-issue from Aldo Nova…

Last month at Record Store Day, I picked up the new Eric Carr on vinyl, but I wasn’t able to get the CD. I was worried I was going to have to pay the Late Tax, but nope. Found it a record store in France for the normal $15 sale price…MINE!! And Mike Ladano picked one up as well after I told him about it.

There were a couple things I bought in April that didn’t show up until May and they are the last items I picked up to finalize the line-up for a new series that will be officially announced in a couple days…

And then I started picking things up to fill some holes for another series that might be coming to the site this Fall…see if you can figure out the connection between these two…

And that Def Leppard band put out a new album. I was able to grab it on vinyl, CD and a signed vinyl picture disc limited to 3,000 copies. I was too slow on the cassette and missed out on that one. Maybe someday I’ll grab it…

And lastly, I went and Jeff Scott Soto in concert and at the merch table was a brand new, limited run CD of a band Jeff was in back in the early 90’s that never got released…it is out now and I now have it. It will be the final review in the Jeff Scott Soto Series (unless he releases something between now and August…

Whew…and that is it for this month. I bought so much stuff that I haven’t even listened to it all. I’m hoping June will have some cool stuff as I’m hoping to hit up a record store out in Los Angeles during June and being a huge store in L.A., I’m hoping to find some interesting, unusually rare stuff that I might normally not find in my small town of Charlotte, NC. Here is everything we had for the month…

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the walk through. Until next month, keep on digging!!
