Camron Jones has been tapped to pay rap icon Tupac Shakur in the Snoop Dogg biopic hitting theaters August 6, 2027.
Camron Jones is stepping into one of hip-hop’s most iconic roles as the Snoop Dogg biopic continues assembling its cast with serious star power.
The actor, best known for his lead role on Amazon Prime’s young adult thriller “Panic,” will portray Tupac Shakur in Universal Pictures’ upcoming film titled Snoop, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This marks another major addition to a production that’s been quietly building momentum in recent weeks.
Jones brings serious credentials to the role. The actor earned his BFA in acting from USC and studied Shakespeare intensively at the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, giving him the classical training needed for such a complex character.

Beyond “Panic,” he’s appeared in Starz’s “P-Valley,” “grown-ish,” “The Purge,” and “Shameless,” establishing himself as a versatile performer capable of handling both dramatic depth and cultural weight.
His casting signals that the filmmakers aren’t treating this as a side character but as a crucial element of Snoop’s story.
The production has been assembling an impressive ensemble. Jonathan Daviss from Netflix’s “Outer Banks” will play Snoop Dogg himself, while Myles Bullock Be, known for his work on “BMF,” takes on the role of Dr. Dre.
Lauren London, who appeared in Snoop’s early-2000s music videos, including “From tha Chuuuch to da Palace” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” will portray Snoop’s late mother, Beverly Tate.
London’s previous credits include “Without Remorse,” “ATL,” and “You People,” bringing her own Hollywood pedigree to the project.
Director Craig Brewer is helming the film, with Brian Grazer producing through Imagine Entertainment. Grazer previously produced “8 Mile,” the Eminem biopic that set the standard for Hip-Hop biopics.
Snoop Dogg himself is producing alongside Sara Ramaker, president of Death Row Pictures.
The biopic is set for theatrical release on August 6, 2027, giving the production team time to craft something substantial.
