This Minimal Tech House flip of a classic Michael Jackson hit is about to break the underground scene. Of course, I’m talking about XCENTRiC‘s upcoming track “Annie Okay,” which transforms the iconic “Smooth Criminal.”
Probably, you have heard countless remixes and reworks of classic hits, but most of them just slap a generic beat over the original and call it a day. Nevertheless, XCENTRiC took a completely different approach with this one.
In my opinion, it belongs in the darkest, sweatiest underground clubs. So, if you’re anything like me and you hate missing out on bangers that are about to blow up, you can PRE-SAVE “Annie Okay” here.

Even from a short preview, you know XCENTRiC did those legendary vocals justice by turning them into something entirely new. He completely re-imagined every element, giving the classic song a creative twist with atmospheric textures and a futuristic edge.
Droptone Records is set to strike gold again with its upcoming release, “Annie Okay.” And what really grabbed me about this version is how well it lands in that Minimal Tech House sweet spot.
You’ve got that solid 4/4 foundation that just locks you into the groove from the first beat. But it’s the dope bassline that really does the heavy lifting here.
It’s repetitive without being boring, and it creates this incredible tension that builds throughout the track. Not to mention, XCENTRiC has managed to keep that raw, underground energy while still delivering something that sounds massive on a proper sound system.
Why Underground Dance Music Needs More of This
XCENTRiC has done an amazing job of bridging the gap between a massive 80s-tinged Pop hit and a proper club banger. It has that nostalgic earworm that everyone will instantly recognize, but the sound design and groove are ideal for a late-night set.
It’s the kind of tune that can introduce someone to the deeper side of electronic music while still satisfying the cravings of seasoned clubbers. An infectious release that DJs will be dropping in their sets for months to come!
