What the Original Song Is Actually About
“San Francisco” was basically born as a way to promote the International Pop Festival in the nearby city of Monterey, California. However, the lyrics point to San Francisco because it was the absolute capital of the 1960s counterculture, and the goal was to invite all the young people to the event.
What’s more, the lyrics paint a picture of the city’s atmosphere, where peace, love, and friendship were in the air everywhere you looked. At the same time, it reflects the philosophy of pacifism, something society really needs today with so much violence and authoritarianism going on.
In short, “San Francisco” perfectly captured a generational movement that rejected traditional norms and pushed for a better new world.
The “San Francisco” EDM Versions
If you’ve got a good memory, you’ll definitely remember that 2004 banger unleashed by Global Deejays. That was the very first electronic version of “San Francisco,” and it was literally playing at every single party.
